(Orillia, Ontario, Friday, September 11, 2026) – The Downtown Orillia Business Improvement Area (DOBIA) would like to inform members that there will be an election to form the new Board of Management for the DOBIA on Thursday October 22nd, 2026. The nomination period is open from September 11, 2026, 9:00AM to October 5, 2026, 5:00PM.
The Downtown Orillia Business Improvement Area will be electing eight (8) directors. The DOBIA board consists of 9 Directors: eight elected members and one appointed by the City of Orillia Council. Directors serve a four (4) year term starting in January 2027. Board members should be prepared to dedicate approximately 6–10 hours per month to monthly board meetings, committee meetings as well as attending other BIA activities and events.
To be eligible for nomination, nominees must be an assessed commercial property owner or business owner within the Downtown Orillia BIA boundary, or be formally authorized to represent an assessed owner, business, or corporation within the BIA. All nomination information and forms can be found in the member’s section of the DOBIA website
www.downtownorillia.ca. Once the nomination period has ended, the list of the nominated candidates will appear in the DOBIA newsletter, social media and website.
Voting will take place on Thursday October 22nd with DOBIA members being able to cast a ballot between 9am and 6pm. Unofficial results will be announced during the DOBIA Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at 23 Mississaga Street West starting at 6pm. Networking and refreshments will take place at 5:30pm before the meeting.
