Mariposa Downtown Stage will help launch next summer’s festival!

Thursday night show has turned into a ‘beautiful way to launch the festival and provide a venue downtown for all of the local residents to enjoy and get excited.

This free downtown live music event was moved to Thursday night this past summer to make it more inclusive and extend the festival fun. The reaction from the community was emphatic as hundreds of people came downtown, brought their lawn chairs and enjoyed some of the best music that the festival had to offer.

Not only will the DOBIA host the Mariposa Downtown Stage on Thursday July 8th next summer, but six more concerts affiliated with the festival will be added in the months ahead and hosted at venues in the downtown Orillia area. These additions represent a significant investment by the festival to further grow the festival and bring even more music lovers to the downtown.

“Mariposa Folk Festival has a profound and lasting impact on our downtown and our community at large. We wanted to dig deeper into our relationship with the festival and find ways to engage our local community more. The Thursday night show has turned into a beautiful way to launch the festival and provide a venue downtown for all of the local residents to enjoy and get excited. We look forward to the continued success of the Thursday night show and all of the magic that is Mariposa Folk Festival.” – Doug Cooper, Board Chair, Downtown Orillia BIA.

“Mariposa has found its home and great success in Orillia thanks to the enthusiastic support from the community. Hosting a free downtown stage on the Thursday evening is a great launch for the festival and enables Mariposa to give back to the community that so generously supports it. What a great partnership between Mariposa Folk Festival and the Downtown Orillia BIA!” – Pam Carter, President, Mariposa Folk Festival.
